Games: “Congklak”

Congklak is one of the Java’s traditional games. It is usually made from wood, but nowadays it is also made from plastic. This instrument consists of sixteen middle circles (hole). Such Fourteen middle circles are in parallel, and then two other middle circles (hole) are in two sides (right and left). Besides, congklak needs 140 kewuks* to fulfill each hole.

No more than ten kewuks* that is fulfill the hole. This simple game only needs a speed of the player hands in moving kewuks*. And then, who get much more kewuks* in their right/left holes, they becomes a winner. It is important to be known, congklak can be found out in Bandung, Sukabumi, Tasikmalaya and Garut. Its price is not expensive. It is about $3 (Rp. 30.000). It is simple and interesting. Try to play it!

kewuk*: it is a small thing that can be found in the sea,  similar as shells.
